Phoenix Mystery & the Free Feature
The Phoenix Free Feature is the layer Dragon Link did not give you. Every Phoenix symbol that lands in base play increments a mystery hit-by counter in the top-right. It must hit before 1888 and can fire earlier, awarding a free Hold & Spin. Leftover phoenixes already on screen stay into that feature.

Official rule
All Phoenix symbols increment the counter
Every Phoenix in base play increments the top-right counter. It must hit before 1888 and can trigger earlier. When it fires, any phoenixes already on screen (a lone Major, for example) stay into the free Hold & Spin.
Feature flow
How the meter plays
-
01Land a Phoenix
Phoenix symbols can appear during base play (and as Help allows during other features).
-
02Increment
Each one adds to the mystery hit-by counter.
-
03Mystery fire
Must hit before 1888; can award a free Hold & Spin any time before then — not a skill event.
-
04Free Hold & Spin
Phoenixes already on screen stay in. You enter Hold & Spin without using that spin’s normal six-symbol trigger.
-
05Same jackpot frame
Inside that feature you still play Mini–Grand logic, including double/triple Mini–Major where the maths allows.

Why it matters
A second door into the jackpot feature
Dragon Link sessions live or die on landing enough Hold & Spin prizes in one spin. Phoenix Link keeps that door and adds another: Phoenix symbols that did not complete a trigger still feed the meter.
A Confucius Say screen shows that counter in the top-right: a live hit-by figure and a “free feature must be won before” target of 1888. The live count belongs to that session; 1888 is the must-hit-by cap, not a promise it waits until the last tick.
A free Hold & Spin. It must hit before 1888 and can fire earlier. Mini–Grand jackpots still live inside Hold & Spin, not on the meter itself.
Yes. Phoenixes already on screen keep their values into the gifted Hold & Spin — including a lone Major.
No. Twin Spins vs 2× wilds changes Free Games, not the Phoenix Free Feature.
